NJCEC Webinar: An Overview of Social Skills and Social Emotional Learning in School Age Children

This webinar, developed for both parents and school-based professionals, will provide an overview of social emotional learning in children and adolescents, as well as a practical approach for teaching social skills at home and at school. Emphasis will be placed on breaking social skills down into specific steps, fostering social problem-solving skills, reinforcing skills, and promoting generalization. The webinar will be followed by a brief question and answer session with Dr. Carter.

Kayla Carter, PsyD, NCSP, provides individual and group therapy for children and adolescents with ADHD, challenging behaviors, social difficulties, and anxiety. Dr. Carter uses CBT, DBT-informed, and systems oriented interventions, and she collaborates with caregivers and school personnel in order to maximize treatment effectiveness. Dr. Carter provides professional development workshops on topics related to mental health and school-based behavior challenges.
